XL – Kantha scarf "DEEP WATERS", handmade and upcycled from vintage Sari silk fabrics and decorated with traditional Kantha embroidery. A silk dream in turquoise and green.
Tradition and meaning of Kantha silk scarves
Our Kantha scarves are wonderful unique pieces that originate in India. The silk scarves are made from traditional saris and are often put together as a patchwork. In the upcycling process, at least two hand-woven sari fabrics are sewn together and decorated with Kantha embroidery. The special, hand-sewn quilting line gives the wonderful silk scarf the name "Kantha", which is a tradition in West Bengal and Odisha. If you believe the Indian legend, the patchwork Kantha scarves serve as "protectors" and bring protection to babies, small children and the elderly. This is also the case with our XL Kantha scarf "DEEP WATERS"
Handmade unique piece – Kantha scarf versatile
Each individual Kantha silk scarf is a handmade unique piece that gives the wearer an extraordinary and unique appearance.
Because they are reversible, Indian silk scarves can be used not only as scarves, but also as sofa and bed throws or as wall decorations in the house. A wonderful accessory that tells a story and brings a silky, colorful touch to everyday life.
Fair produced Kantha silk scarves
We source our Kantha silk scarves directly from a family business in India. The silk scarves are handmade, as tradition demands, by women in the countryside with great attention to detail. The upcycling process takes place under fair conditions. We are happy partners and are pleased to be able to bring a small part of India to the western world.
