COOPERATION WITH INDIA

ABOUT THE COUNTRY & OUR PARTNERS

We would like to take you to India. The Indus culture is one of the oldest cultures in the world.
Its history goes back at least 5,000 years.

THE COUNTRY & THE CULTURE

It is a country of great contrasts. Himalayan peaks and Buddhist monasteries in the north, South Indian Hindu temples in the tropical south.

With a population of 1.425 billion people, India is now the most populous country in the world and the most populous democracy in the world.

It is the country of Gandhi and Nehru, who fought peacefully against British colonial rule and achieved independence in 1947.

It is the diverse beauty of the landscapes that we admire, the ancient philosophies and sciences that have also arrived in the West, such as yoga and Ayurveda.

We admire the architecture of the magnificent temples, monasteries and mosques built by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists and Muslims. No other country in the world has such great religious diversity.

There are many things about India that fascinate us; listing everything would almost go beyond the scope of this article ;-)

One craft that we are particularly fond of is the art of block printing, which has a long tradition in India.

India has probably the widest range of different handicrafts in the world. Some of the examples of this, such as Dokra jewellery, Kantha shawls and Banjara bags, as well as our popular hand-printed bags, which bear witness to the Indian handicraft tradition, can be found at KIKOONI.

We are always happy to travel to India to meet our suppliers and producers in person.

We love India and its craftsmanship.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT

and by purchasing a product from our India collection, you support our partners and productions directly! We do not push down the prices of our producers and suppliers until it is no longer possible - we want to pay the people who produce our goods properly for their (hand!) work and give them the opportunity to improve their standard of living by working with us! .....
