The silk scarves are made from traditional saris and are often put together as a patchwork. In the upcycling process, at least two hand-woven sari fabrics are sewn together and decorated with Kantha embroidery. The special, hand-sewn Quilted stitch line gives the wonderful silk scarf the name “Kantha”, which is a tradition in West Bengal and Odisha. According to Indian legend, the patchwork Kantha scarves serve as “protectors” and bring protection to babies, small children and the elderly.
