What is Dokra?

Dokra is a lost-wax metal casting process that originated in India over 4,000 years ago. Since then, it has been a tradition that is still practiced and continued today by a few smiths in villages in West Bengal and Odisha. Every single object is handcrafted by creating a unique mold, which is shattered after the firing process. This makes every piece of metal, no matter how small, a unique item.

Handcrafted Dokra jewelry

From Dokra bracelets and necklaces to Dokra earrings – Dokra jewelry is made and brought to life through traditional craftsmanship. The subtly gleaming gold surface of Dokra jewelry does not tarnish, making it a beautiful and long-lasting jewelry companion. Its uniqueness gives the wearer of Dokra jewelry a special and individual touch that stands out clearly from all other types of jewelry.

Dokra jewelry from India

We traveled to India and visited families who are keeping the Dokra tradition alive. The handcrafted Dokra jewelry is produced fairly and has a sustainable character. Each individual piece of jewelry tells a story and is part of a centuries-old tradition. We are grateful partners and are happy to be able to represent the Indian Dokra tradition in the Western world.

Ich komme aus: India

Our products from India are handmade. Through regular trips to India - to our partners and productions, we know the producers personally and always get exciting insights into the production process, where each production step takes place and, last but not least, who carries it out. We are fascinated by India, the craftsmanship and the tradition of the country, which are reflected in all products from India.
