What is Dokra?

Dokra is a lost-wax metal casting technique that originated in India over 4,000 years ago. It has been a tradition ever since, maintained and carried on to this day by a few blacksmiths in villages in West Bengal and Odisha. Each individual object is handmade using a unique mold, which is broken after the firing process. This makes every piece of metal, no matter how small, a one-of-a-kind item.
